William B. Hughes Jr. is the president and owner of Hughes Construction Corp., a second generation general contractor with over 30 years of experience across several facets in the construction industry. He is a graduate of Austin Peay State Universeity having earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Mr. Hughes grew up in the construction business and know at a nearly age that he wanted to follow is father on the residential side of construction at Fox Ridge Homes in Nashville, TN where his father was a corporate officer. During his tenure at Fox Ridge Homes his time was mostly spent working with residential construction. Shortly after graduating from Austin Peay, Mr. Hughes obtained his real-estate license and sold real estate for five years.
Three years into selling real estate he began to build speculative residential housing while simultaneously marketing his own properties. His desire however to build larger and more complex projects led him in 1994 to move his company towards commercial and industrial construction where his operation have kept their focus since.

Our preconstruction services include cost estimating, scheduling, scope of work development, budget preparation and value engineering. But we go beyond the basics and relentlessly scrutinize the plans and specifications to find extra value for our clients.

We work with the design professionals to identify alternatives for the systems and materials going into the final design. By considering these “Cost Savings Alternatives” in the course of design, we are able incorporate the most cost effective means, methods, systems and materials into every building we construct.
Prior to the start of a project, Hughes Construction Corporation will develop a “Means & Methods Statement” as a road map for the success of the project. This allows for a “build it on paper” approach prior to groundbreaking. This clear and early understanding of logistical concerns and coordination issues also assures that field concerns and issues will be identified prior to the development of a CPM schedule, and not in the field, where time is indeed money. A review of our road map will be reassessed on an ongoing basis and refined as needed.
